Tips for authors

Draw attention to your contribution!

As the author, you know best who your target audience is. By applying the following measures, you can easily increase your contribution’s readership.

Even when there are no more printed excerpts, you can still let potential readers know about your new publication. The best way to do this is with an email containing a link to your contribution (the URL of the landing page, i.e. the page with the abstract: example, or the DOI number, e.g. https://doi.org/10.25619/BmE201818). You can also attach a PDF file containing your contribution to the email. Ideally, write such an email to all the scholars that you quote or mention in your contribution.

Incorporate a link to your contribution on your organization’s or your own homepage. If you provide an online bibliography of your writings, create a link so that readers can access your contribution directly (example).

Include a link to your new contribution at the end of your email signature, e.g. with a note “newly published ... “, drawing attention to your contribution with each email you send.

If you are active on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram: post a reference to your current publication. Follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/bme_2018) and retweet our tweets. There are several active Medieval studies networks on Twitter.
